A massive thanks from all the Forged in Ireland smiths, to everyone in Banagher Co. Offaly and the 'That Beats Banagher Festival' - for our second visit to this beautiful location. The help and support we received from the towns people over the weekend was again, above and beyond.
This year we had three competitions, with the first - the 'Battle of the Blacksmiths' held on Saturday - with five challenges, judged on a point-based system. This was open to everyone whether beginner or a self-proclaimed legend.
The highly coveted 'Golden Anvil' competition was a timed trial to forge the best blade from scratch, in an hour - with the winners name being added to the 'Golden Anvil' and Forged In Ireland history!
On Sunday the Artist Blacksmith Competition was held on the theme of Growth. As always this was incredibly hard to judge due to the high quality and originallity of all the entries.
